Fruit or vegetable?

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish the fruits and "non fruits"
  • Identify the different edible parts of a plant (leaf, root, bulb, stem...)

Fruits and vegetables are regularly used terms. However, what do they mean? In the culinary language, fruit is sweet and is consumed in desserts. Vegetables grow in the ground, are cooked and seasoned to accompany meat and fish. Botanists say otherwise. Fruit is identified by well defined characteristics. On the contrary, all that is not fruit can not be so easily categorized. By scientific rigor there are only two categories considered: fruits and non fruits.

Identify the characteristics of each element and associate the element to the corresponding basket.

Move the element towards the corresponding basket.
