Pond ecosystem (trophic relationship)

Learning objectives

  • Understand how all of the interactions work in an ecosystem.
  • Introduce the role of the decomposers and detrivores in order to recycle waste and fertilize soils.

An ecosystem contains numerous populations of animal and plant species that share resources in the same environment.

There are many natural environments (forest, river, pond, desert, swamp). Life maintains itself through the interactions which develop between the elements of an ecosystem (energy exchange, trophic relationships).
