Converging lens #2

Learning objectives

  • To illustrate the effects of a converging lens on light rays.
  • To understand what the focal length represents.
  • A ray passing through the center of the lens will be undeflected.
  • A ray proceeding parallel to the principal axis will pass through the principal focal point beyond the lens.

These properties are used to construct ray diagrams in order to locate the image of an object through a converging lens.
